5 Ways to Bring Help to a World that Needs You

Look for the helpers...Fred "Mister" Rogers said he would get scared as a child when something bad was happening in the world. Then his mom would tell him, "Look for the helpers." And that would bring peace to a scary situation, because he could find the good happening in the midst of evil. The truth is, we can't focus on stopping the bad actions in the world. It only serves as a distraction to focus on what you can't change. We can, however, contribute to changing the world into a better place; we can choose to do good. We can be the helpers. The world can be a more beautiful place if we look for -- and choose to be -- the helpers.

For the week of March 18 - March 22

Actions: The Simple Helps to remember

  • Monday - Put $5 in an encouraging note and hand it to someone who could benefit from that kindness today.  - Submitted by Bonnie Gamble

  • Tuesday - Think of something you have that you don’t need. Think about someone you know who would love to have it. Give it to them with a simple note that says, “I think this should belong to you.”

  • Wednesday - Speak to others using this as your filter: “Say only the things that could stand as the last thing you’ll ever say.”

  • Thursday - Give this honest feedback to someone, “You make me want to be a better person.”

  • Friday - Show up and be friendly.

Be awesome. Make someone's day. Join the rest of us this week and go help somebody!
